Astarte's Design Portfolio

Design 1

Musk's Mission

This game was designed to be played by Astarte's soft body controller. The controller was made using Arduino, conductive thread, and lots of dedication. Images of the controller can be found on this page.

Design 2

Insta Data Search

Astarte developed this game as a way to experiment with how data can be displayed. She downloaded her data directly from Instagram and placed within the neighborhood a few pieces of this data.

Design 3

Horror Game

One of Astarte's first ever game designs.

Soft Body Controller

I designed my plush controller using a Flora, conductive fabric, and conductive thread. I attached my conductive fabric using iron on interface to my fabric that was cut out into the shape of my plush controller. I had to sew the thread through the fabric and then through a pin on the Flora. The fabric was cut into the shape of an up and down arrow, similar to buttons on a keyboard. Everything fit into my plush controller, it took some time using an X-acto knife to cut through the plush in order to make the shape of the arrows but everything fit in well.

The look and feel of it was extremely comfortable and other classmates seemed to really enjoy this idea too.

The Arduino code took a lot of playing around with before the accuracy of the controller was at its best. Designing the game took hours even though it was so simple in nature, between the repeating backgrounds and drawing the characters. In the end, I learned a lot about Arduino and working with these materials.
